Question:
Do I need a restrictor?
Answer:
There are two trains of thought on this and is your choice to
add if you desire. It is designed to slow the flow of fluid
through the heater core in order to make if more efficient. Some
have found the restrictor will cause a noise in the heater
coolant system.
There is also a
thought that it will prevent excess pressure on the heater core
however you will find there is also a bypass point internal to
the belt tensioner. We have found the restrictor is not
necessary and is another plastic part subjected to to heat over
time will fail and cause a coolant loss at the most in opportune
time. Bottom line we don't feel it is necessary but can be
purchased at a local parts store if you believe it is required.
